About the Author

I am Chris Morais, MSc, MPhil, PhD, a medical research scientist with more than three decades of experience, with a special focus on urology and oncology. My work has included research related to the kidneys, bladder, prostate, and cancer. With a PhD in kidney cancer, I have published more than 50 research articles, edited a scientific book, and co-supervised Honors, Masters, and PhD students.

I created bladderkidneyprostate.com to help the general public understand bladder, kidney, prostate, and urology-related health topics without unnecessary medical or scientific jargon. This work grew out of many conversations with people who wanted to understand their own health conditions, or the conditions affecting their loved ones, but found medical explanations difficult to follow.

Many of the questions I answer on this site are based on real questions people have asked me over the years about their own health concerns or the health of their family members.

My goal is to make complex medical information clearer, calmer, and easier to understand for patients, families, and general readers.

For readers who want a fuller plain-language explanation, I have also written Kidney Cancer: In Plain Language for Patients and Families. More information is available on the Books page.
